Engine block is one of the key components of engine. It is benefit to the enterprise if the enterprise possesses developing capability, production capability and technical methods of main parts itself. With competing more and more sharply, it's necessary to ensure the block quality of R and XR gasoline engine (has passed the certification and calibration of EUR II) in order to improve the performance of the vehicle, which are in mass-produce and will be the dominant products in the next years. R engine and XR engine are the products produced by our company at present. The paper mainly discussed the technique scheme of setting up a common flexible machining line for R and XR block.In the paper, the possibility and necessity of setting up the common line for R and XR engine block is analyzed and demonstrated and the technique scheme of common flexible line for R and XR has been designed based on technical level, production capability and market demands of national engine, technique features of R and XR engine block, plan of the company and economic benefit predication. The main research results as following:1 , Analyzed the technique features of R and XR block anddiscusses the possibility to realize common line with current machining technology.2 , Through Illuminating the abuse of the existing product line in mass-produce, brings forward technical reconstruction plan of building a flexible production line to replace the existing rigid production line based on the states of machining technology in current and practical demands of enterprise at present.3, Established the technique scheme according to the whole layouts of the company. Discussed the key technology of setting up common flexible machining line for R and XR block in detail, in the aspect of location, equipment, fixture and reamer.4 , Analyzed the outsourcing cost of R and XR block according to the plan of the company in recent years. Predicated the attainable economic benefit after building up common flexible machining line for R and XR block.
