| There is little research on the engineering properties of the geocell reinforced layer and almost no systematical study on the working mechanism and calculating methods of it. So in this paper, the material properties, the engineering designing theory and the engineering application properties of geocell are systematically and comprehensively studied through laboratory test, theoretical analysis, FEM and application character in solid project.Through loading plate test, different modulus of deformation and of resilience of pure soil and geocell structural layer are compared to one another. And the bearing capacity of foundation is derived. Bearing capacity, modulus of deformation and modulus of resilience in different cases are then compared to one another. These cases include: different filler, different height of geocell, different welding distance of geocell and different compactness. The test result shows that: when geocell reinforced structural layer is laid on, the intensity of the soft ground will be obviously improved and its bearing capacity increases by 5-6 times.By means of full-scale direct shear experiment, variations of cohesion force and friction angle between geocell reinforced structure and pure earth under different conditions, i.e. different filler, different shear face and different welded distance, are measured. Following, intensity and variation law of geocell reinforced structure are studied on by triaxial shear test. Direct shear test of full measurement shows that: shear strength of geocell reinforced foundation improves a lot because geocell takes part in shearing proceed. And cohesive force improves a lot while inner friction angle improves a little. Triaxial shear test shows that: as for geocell reinforced soil, its stress-strain curve shows character of stiffening. Reinforced pattern, density and the like have great influence on stress-strain curve.Self-made model is used and stain slice is stuck on inner wall of geocell to measure the strain of geocell material, its stretch strength and stretch modulus when geocell structural layer is stretched.
