With the development of modern complicated power system, transient stability simulation has been believed as an indispensable tool for power system operation. And the model of synchronous generator is considered the most important factor which influent the simulation results. In the past years, the Eq ′ constant model, which ignore the dynamic regulating process of the excitation system, was widely used because of lacking accurate data so that the result could not reflect the real operation conditions. The real model identified from field data has been adopted in this paper which can represent accurately the actual dynamic responses of the generator and its excitation system based on the excitation parameters measurement of North China Electric Power System. The variation rule of transient stability level is analysed comparing with the Eq ′ constant model, taking the CCT as a basic index, and the affect of the change of the key excitation parameters on power system transient stability is researched, both can support the operation and optimization of the power system better.
