Being one of the steel structures techniques, low-rise lightweight steel residence is quite popular abroad. It includes fiame system, lightweight steel joist system and multi-ribbed posts system etc. Steel consumption is various, among this, steel onsumption in lightweight joist system is the least.Using lightweight structure in residence is still in origination period in China. Our technology thus has big gap with America, Europe or Japan, especially in low-rise residence. It has not been in integrated structural system yet, even without saying architectural system. In China, the sectional thickness of primary component is restricted by " The Technical Criterion on Cold-formed Thin-wall Steel Structure". It is not common to use cold-formed thin-wall steel component in residence and there isn't any relevant regulation. So it is quite necessary to research the load bearing capacity both on theory and experiment. Therefore, below researches have been made:1. Considering of Dalian living culture, material market, steel consumption, price & performance comparision(economical), wall-outside, colligated cost etc, a construction system of lightweight steel residence for Dalian will be reached.2. Make comparison between North America and China criterion on the arithmetic sectional effectiveness in Width-to-Thickness ratio. The result shows if the board thickness is thin, the effective width in the America Criterion is bigger. When the thin steel board gets thicker, the results gradually reach the same.3. By using American related criterion to calculate the partial bending capacity of board-rib component under vertical load pressure and comparing with relevant experiment, the result shows the experiment value is 1.2-1.4 more than that of theory value. For safety sake, America criterion should be carried out.4. By using American related criterion to calculate the entire bending capacity of board-rib component under vertical load pressure and comparing with relevant experiment, the result shows the experiment value is 1.2-1.4 more than that of theory value. In China, since there is not any criterion temporarily ,for the safety sake, America criterion is indeed workable.
