| The essay researches on the developmental background and history of foreign and civil steel residence, material and technical requirement of steel residence development in our country. It also summarizes the advantages of the high-rise steel residence. Compares and analyzes our country's frequently used structural system. On the base of researching lots of information, the author presents a structural design of a 21-story high-rise steel residence, from the conceptual design to the detailed design. The design start from analyzing structural the shear wall-steel frame system, with concentrically braced frames in both sides. The design satisfies the story drift requirement prescribed in the code, and it is secure, reliable, economical, etc. This paper can be referenced to design high-rise steel residence.
