| In southwest area of our country, most of the area is in hilly country. In this area there are many historic towns. These historic towns are human living environment that mutually form from especial geography environment, social culture background, human activity and natural environment. Then the environment has special features in region culture and cultures inheritance. It is the important part of history culture resources in our country. As soon as development of Yangtse gorges engineering and western region,it brings the big development of social economy in southwest region. On the other hand southwest historic town also faces hardly destructive. How to protecting the history town in fast city progress with science and availably means, have become the research lesson of the culture inheritance protection realm.Applying basic theory of historic culture heritage conservation, taking Dongxi as an research example, making comprehensive use of city planning, Architecture, history, geography,, sociology, economics ,etc. the thesis analyses history origins, natural environment, cultural feature and the confronted problem and contradiction of historic built environment in Chongqing, and discusses conservation theory and methods from the combination of protection and economy development, the combination of society progresses and conservation, integrated conservation for main factor of history environment these three aspects.The thesis is divided into the following six aspects:The first part: This chapter expatiate clearly study purpose, study meaning, study origin and study frame.
