Urban water supply distribution network geographic information system (WSDNGIS) is a compositive information system which uses GIS technology to manager water supply distribution network spatial and attribute data based on establishing spatial and attribute database. It is necessary for modernization city to establish a WSDNGIS to enhance management and efficiency of water supply distribution network. To develop WSDNGIS, Visual Basic and MapObjects which is a component GIS software are adopted to manage and analyze pipe network information. Spatial data and Attribute data are stored in the same database, which is managed by SDE technology based on GeoDatabase concept.WSDNGIS is divided to five subsystems: I. Data Management subsystem; II. Query Statistics subsystem; III. Pipe Network Management subsystem; IV. Crash Handling subsystem; V. System Maintenance subsystem. The main function of data management subsystem is to manage database, such as data input, data output, data update and so on. The main function of query statistics subsystem is to query and statistic pipe network information and outcome can be printed as report forms and statistics figures. The main function of pipe network management subsystem is to manage pipe network, such as managing drawing on layers, drawing section of pipe and so on. The main function of crash handling subsystem is to provide efficient and scientific decision-making for Valve-turnoff Analysis. The main function of system maintenance subsystem is to provide system maintenance, such as system database backup, data dictionary management, users' cipher and purview management and so on.A probe into application of MIS technology and database technology and GIS technology and network technology and Multi-Media technology in water supply distribution network's daily management is presented by design and implement of water supply distribution network geographic information system in this paper.
