According to the base theory of reliability in design and two products generated from the project: 1. The drive structure used for FY-3 satellite solar array outspread machinery and microwave imaging apparatus, 2. The drive structure used for making balance of steering engine for air-guard 200 autopilot, the reliability design and analysis of electrical machines are carried out.In term of requests of drive structure in the field of aerospace and aeronautics: lighter weight, smaller volume measure, higher reliability, this project expounds using direct current motor as drive structure and single roter component reduncdancy structure mode. The major facors of motor malfunctions and weakness and incipient fault of the units of motor are analyzed fully. Also some methods are raised for improving the reliability design of motors by the combination way of failure mode effect, criticality analysis and fault tree analysis. Calculating the leakage magnet coefficient accurately by electromagnetic amount method is brought out. And the design can be optimized with magnetic circuit calculation. In design of structure, how to choose main units is given and the design can be ameliorate by 3-D software Unigraphics. For commutating badly in DC motor which operates in vacuum, the paper assays the main reasons that effect commutation, then gives improved ways .The results manifests that motor working life is prolonged 30 times.The DC motor used for FY-3 satellite solar array outspread machinery is appraised. And praised highly by specialists for interior priority and international lever. The drive structure used for making balance of steering engine for air-guard 200 autopilot also gets successful test- flying in Jan. 2005 as new parts in the system.
