With the rapid development of packaging enterprise, all kinds of packaging CAD software appeared, which infuses new life into the traditional industry of Packaging and Printing. On today of rapid development of computer, 3D effect handling is inevitable for all kinds of packaging CAD software. Because the beginning point of all kinds of carton CAD software is 2D at present yet the function of 3D effect graph is crucial when the users choose package, study mode of opposition to traditional study mode is used in this paper, viz. 3D study beginning point is used in this paper, by which we created a new 3D carton CAD system. The difficulty of 3D effect handling is great if we recur to basic program, so the realization of functions of the carton CAD system recurs toOpenGL--a powerful 3D graph library, by which we create a powerful 3D cartonCAD system. Firstly, according to the demand of the industry of Packaging and Printing, we bring forward a study mode based on 3D study beginning point. This software can firstly create a 3D graph, and can upholster this 3D structural graph, which can make the users firstly observe the 3D effect graph. Then we can carry through many handling such as rotation, unwrapping and forming and so on. Finally, this software also can carry through a series ofeffect handling, such as changing the color of background, showing the frame of structure, showing the impress line, the magnify and lessen of the graph, adding the light or not and so on. In this way, when users choose the carton, they will firstly observe the 3D effect graph, which will help to the choosing package for the users.
