This paper have studied the managing visual technology of water supply pipe network system based on WebGIS in Tongchuan, Shanxi Province. After analysing the questions existing in the management of the current water supply pipe network system, and on the basis of the model of water hydraulic and water quality, database, WebGIS and visual technology of 3D, the main achievement made in this research is as follows:1. SQL Server 2000 is used to manage the attribute data and MapXtreme is utilized to manage the spatial data, then date-banding is used to realize the conjunction of attribute date and spatial date. The computer management of the materials of water supply pipe network system, make the materials easy to maintain and store, guarantee the dependability and validity of the materials,and make the management simple and relaxation too.2. A MapXtreme For NT-based WebGIS system is built up which lowered the cost of development, maintenance and training greatly, and have realized the data shared in large range. Meanwhile, company's website is built in this research, every Company staff only needs ordinary browser to handle official business, without installation of any software added on the computers of users . Such a solution makes the maintenance and operationhandle official business, without installation of any software added on the computers of users . The simulating technology of water hydraulic and water quality and the visual technology are utilized to realize real-time simulation of the water supply pipe network system under the support of intellectual SCADA ( Supervisory Control And Date Acquisition) system. At the same time, a large number of abstract data such as topography date, operating data, simulating result is changed into 3D image which have reflected the operation state of the pipe network visually. Thus one can proceed a on-line supervising on the equipments, keep a view on the running state of the whole water supply pipe network system real-timely , and then take effective measures to optimize the operation of water supply pipe network system in time. This ensure the efficiency and security of the water supply network system.
