Mechatronics usually employs some integration technologies, which will cover technology of machinery and electronics for optimizing the system. Integrated mechatronics product generally includes five sub-systems, which are mechanism, mechanism, actuating components, power source, sensor and controlling system. Among them mechanism's design, sensor technology are the key technology in mechatronics product design.The conceptual design of the mechatronics product is the key stage in the design process. In order to achieve the comprehensive optimum scheme, the creative thinking is demanded due to the radiation of the design process. The main target of a conceptual design is mechanism's design, selection of the sensor type, and their integration and information interchange. In recent years, the studies made by domestic and international scholars mainly focus on the scheme design of mechanism. Practical automatic generating systems have still not approached in the field of the mechatronics product design. As a result, it is the goal of the author to make some exploring study on the conceptual design's methods and their automatic generating systems for the mechatronics product in the present thesis.Based on mechanism theory, the present thesis first puts forward the definition, categorized method and complete description of mechanism unit. A detailed description of knowledge is also given to the mechanism unit of the movement attribute and the function attribute. The code of mechanism unit is achieved by a further discretization. After a classification and knowledge representation of sensors in terms of measure items, the code of sensors has been approached. Secondly, the knowledge base for mechanism and sensors is set up based on setting-up rules of the database and basic theories of the relation database. According to mechanism's design and characteristics of the sensors, the author puts forward the effective reasoning and solving method. With the programming language tool, the evaluation of mechanism selection has been realized; and according to the information of mechanism type, the selection of the sensors and evaluation have been finished. Finally, this thesis has developed the conceptual design system of the mechatronics product. Using the concept design method of the mechatronics product, the author has studied the scheme design of the cutting machine of gas pipe. Design results has been applicated in the product.
