Corridors are traditional component parts of architecture. After evolved over thousands of years , corridor space is till largely used in modern architecture. It reflects many problems when designing architecture from a certain respect. This thesis aims at arousing architects to seek for high quality space and the awareness about details of constructions. This gives a positive solution for how to create an excellent, innovative works. The thesis starts from the history of corridor, analyses the common characters of inner space and establishes the conception system of corridor space based on the theory of modern architectural space, which is the theoretical foundation. By the detailed analysis of the corridor space form and the application in the east and west traditional architecture and modern architecture, the thesis summarises the differences of corridor space shape under different system, and also summarises the continuous and creative of traditional model in modern architecture. The investigation emphasis of this thesis is the abstract summary about the design principles and universal design methods of corridor space in modern architecture.
