21 st century is a new era for Chinese high education to innovate and develop. Being the basic policy of our country, education is the source of the society's development. In the new century, higher education with a kind of pluralistic, open, as well as interactive "humanism". The new concept, new system, and new technology is challenging the traditional campus design from different degree. As a result, more and more, the traditional campus space can't adapt the requirement of our society.This thesis is based on the research of material environments in modern colleges, and focuses on the corridor space of modern colleges. The thesis starts from the history of corridor, analyses the common characters of inner space and establishes the conception system of corridor space based on the theory of modern architectural space, which is the theoretical foundation. By the detailed analysis of the corridor space form and the application in the east and west traditional campus architecture and modern campus architecture, and also analysis of the campus space characteristics and the impact factors, the thesis summarises the design principles and universal design methods of corridor space in modern campus architecture.
