A Study On Modern Regional Architecture In South Europe

The thesis discussed the regionality of the modern architecture in Southern Europe,and the key points are the regional design achievements of the Southern European countries including Italy,Spain,Portugal,Greece and etc.In order to seize the regionality,the thesis has discussed different coutries from many aspects. There are four chapters in the thesis which is about sixty thousand chinese words and about one hundred illustrations.The preface including historical,cultural and geographical backgrounds of Southern European modern architecture is analysed.Then the first chapter states the conception about the regionality,and generalizes the developments and accomplishments about the regionality of the Southern European modern architecture.The second chapter probes into the regional architecture of Italy,Spain,Portugal,Greece and etc,and states the achievements about regionality gained by the representative architects of these countris,and also enters into the rural architecture along the coastline of Mediterranean. The third chapter analyses the influence made by the nature,culture and technology to the modern regional architecture of Southern Europe.The fourth chapter summarizes the regional characteristics of the contemporary architecture in Southern Europe,including the critical regionalism and the rural architecture,and also touches the latent relationship between the regionality and the Mediterranean civilization.The regional embodiment is the main topic of the modern architecture design in Southern Europe.Especially the combination between regionality and times is the important direction of modern architectural development in the future.
