Catenary theory is a theory that really shows the gravity property of suspension rope. Based on the standard curve of the catenary, the calculation formulas of non-load sketch and tension of suspension rope are deduced. By establishing state coordinate equation, the relationship between load horizon tension and load deflection is deduced, load sketch and tension of suspension rope is solved by Newton iteration numerical method.Sliding speed is key to the design of strop ropeway. Based on mechanical theory of suspension rope, with the opinion of energy, this paper analyses the condition of making work of Ioad(carriage and passenger) in the process of sliding, establishes the energetic equation of motion of strop ropeway, calculates the instantaneous speed of respective point.Based on the established mathematics models of suspension rope design, the design system of suspension rope is built up by using Visual Basic 6.0, which has friendly interface, easy to operate and voids the trivial process of manual calculation. After inputting the given parameters, the sliding speed is calculated by iteration, safety and durability are checked, it provides scientific theory proof for the suspension rope design of strop ropeway.Applying the set of system theory put forward by this paper, strop ropeway of Bao Hu Lu Village of Ganzhu in Jiangxi province is designed, its designed plan is reasonable, it has advanced technology, reasonable economy, safe practice. The whole engineering of strop ropeway has been finished by December, 2003, it has passed the test of State Bureau of Quality Technical Supervision. The theory of strop ropeway is verified correct through measuring data on the spot.
