With the development of three-dimensional graphic technique and computer technique, three-dimensional design has been already inevitable tendency of CAD application. At present, the application of three-dimensional CAD technique on diesel engine design mainly focuses on three-dimensional solid modeling , finite element analysis, building standardized component library , top-down assembly design, and so on. Overall three-dimensional design on the whole diesel engine is at the stage of searching, pointing out some uncompleted aspects in parametric modeling for diesel engine. The work is also a part of the project called "agile manufacturing information integration" which is supported by Province Natural Science Foundation. The main work that has been done in this thesis is as following:1 .The study on parametric design and development of Pro/Engineer2. Associated design is kind of new technology aiming to remove the difficulties of traditional CAD system, it puts emphasis on the convenience of building and modification product model. Based on the associations between parts of a product, it can provide the tools associations design and associations modification of multiple Products. Study the top-down design process and the practice methods which based on parameterization.3.we can build the digital model of 1126 diesel engine in the Pro/ENGINEER platform by carrying out the idea that the top essential framework acts as the link of the information transfer during top-down designing. This article sets up an example for the practical application of the technology on the virtual specimen machine and provides references for the future research on it4.Based on the digital model of 1126 diesel engine, we build the kinematics and the kinetics model and complete the design of the virtual specimen machine. Then study the simulation through operating the virtual specimen machine in software Pro/ENGIEER and ADAMS. After obtaining the analyzed results, can verify the performance of the 1126 diesel engine and put forward some modifying schemes for those questions which are found.
