The cause of power supply system harmonic has been analyzed in this paper. These models have been implemented using the MATLAB/SIMULINK in order to simulate the three-phase saturated transformer, three-phase bridge rectifier, model SS1 electrical locomotive and electric arc furnace, and discuss the solution of eliminating and restraining harmonic. At the same time, a mathematical nonlinear model is developed to simulate the performance of an induction watt-hour meter for non-sinusoidal voltage and current waves. And corresponding simulation has also been developed using the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The simulation results are compared with actual data in order to validate the accuracy of the model. Finally, the performance of an induction watt-hour meter is analyzed accounting for distorted wave, and the effect of harmonic on the accuracy of the active power measurement is studied quantitatively.
