The thesis is based on empirical design of underground engineering structures. By introduction of a computer program and combination of conventional empirical analogue design methodology and computer technology, the thesis develops the design philosophy of the underground engineering empirical design. There are five parts in the paper that discuss the achievement of carrying empirical analogue design methodology into computer programming. And they are classification of surrounding rock, certainty of inside contour of vehicular tunnel, polling the database of supporting parameter, assessment security of structure and computer cartography. The classification of the surrounding rock divides the rock in the respect of quantitative classification and gets the qualitative gradation of the engineering rocks by correction of underground water, correction of weak structural plane and correction of original stress field. The selection of the internal contour of the vehicular tunnel is determined by architectural limits. The program computes the most optimum cross-section of all kinds of different driveways and different cross-section forms. In the inquiry of supporting parameter database, the related supporting information and construction methods can be acquired in the database by inputting the parameters. In the evaluation of the structural safety, the assurance coefficient of structure can be received by loading structural models, the endogen force of computation structures, the eccentric compression and the safe criterion. The drawings can be got automatically by using the program technology in the AutoCAD. In the thesis, there are not only introduction of the theory foundation in the five parts but also expatiation the implement way of these theory from the aspects of programming and the programming functions. These functions meet the purpose of fast and optimum design of the vehicular tunnel. In addition, there are examples in the thesis that interpret the whole process of the programming. The method introduced in the thesis is the theory summarization during the compiling of the software. Though there are unilateralism and deficiency, it will impulse design philosophy of the underground engineering empirical design with continuously attempting and amending.
