The BIM technology,a digital tool that integrates engineering design,construction,and operation management,is increasingly attracting more and more people in the civil engineering community.However,in the aspect of tunnel design,BIM technology is less applied,and there are mainly the following problems: 1.In the terrain,complicated geological structures lead to changeable geological models,and it is impossible to establish a unified terrain library;2.In terms of lining and tunnel doors,The everchanging terrain leads to a wide variety of types of tunnel linings and caverns,making it difficult to create standard component libraries.3.BIM applications are relatively fragmented.The use of BIM in general design institutes is not a real design.It is only based on design drawings and is then used for 3D display.At present,there is no threedimensional entity information model that truly integrates the information of tunnel geological survey,design standards and lining structure,and the model has been converted into a two-dimensional design diagram that can be submitted to the user according to the Chinese engineering drafting standards.This article is based on the BIM concept,using the Automation technology to secondary development of CATIA software,taking the highway tunnel lining design as an example,to solve the above problems.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Through the analysis of the BIM concept and the design characteristics of the tunnel,select the appropriate modeling platform—CATIA and development method—Automation technology.(2)According to the survey data of the tunnel and the habits of the designers,three methods for creating geological models,namely point cloud and reverse engineering,contour line method and section line method,were adopted to develop the operating procedure for the creation of geological model entities by section line method.(3)Extract geological survey information,I create a tunnel component user database—Excel spreadsheet,and develop an operating system that generates a model of a highway tunnel lining component.Based on the CATIA software platform,a 3D component information model is automatically created,and a component library is created using parameterization functions,such as a bolt library,a steel rack library,and the like.(4)According to the lining component database and tunnel lining construction sequence,a program for generating a complete tunnel lining structure model was developed.A lining structure model was automatically generated,and this model was combined with a three-dimensional geological entity to generate a complete highway tunnel model.(5)According to the standards of Chinese engineering drawings,the procedures for converting a 3D highway tunnel model into a 2D design map were studied and developed,including the automatic calculation of the project quantity table and the related instructions for design drawings.
