Appropriate Design In The Localization Of Modern Architecture In China

In China, the economy and technology level, as well as people's living conditions still remain under-developed. In consider of the coming modern live, the traditional buildings are not able to serve the convenient living conditions. In order to change the backward situation and develop China, modern building technologies and design methods are to be used. On the other hand, for the sake of avoiding the impact on the unique cultures and traditions, and solving the contrast between the highly industrialized costly new technologies and contemporary economy level, I think the Appropriate Design Strategies the starting point in the localization of modern architecture in China.Firstly, the thesis analyze the problems faced in the large scale development in contemporary China, the background of these problems and the important value of the study of them. Then, the design theories and practices from several architects in some developing countries are retrospected. The comment in this part mainly summarizes in the macro scope what the Appropriate Design Strategies concern, to set up the theory frame of the study. The third part briefly discusses the theories and practice of the Appropriate Design Strategies and the problem lying in both of them. The fourth part discusses the objects, comment and the expression ways of the Appropriate Design Strategies, with deep study into the topic through specific examples and then carrying out an appropriate design on the base of it. The fifth part prospects the architectural design in coming large-scale development in China. The focus is put on the relations between the Appropriate Design and development strategies in China and the way of merging into them. This part answers the question on the beginning, i.e., the comment included in the study object. Lastly as the coda of the whole thesis, I make a conclusion to it.
