With the world wide promotion of the open teaching mode, there is a profound change in designing modern teaching space to meet the demand of new teaching space and teaching activities. Based on modern teaching theories, the paper puts forward "non-lecturing" teaching space on the basis of open teaching activities. With the analysis of concept and characteristics of non-class space in teaching buildings the paper claims that "non-lecturing" teaching space begins to challenge the dominance of "lecturing" teaching space and constitutes the important necessary complementary part of the "open" teaching space. Then, it argues that it possesses the characteristics of unity and multiplicity in function and form and classifies it in space form.At last, it summarizes the designing principles of non-lecturing teaching space and discusses the designing node and method of non-lecturing teaching by instances.
