In the new period and environment of the twenty-first century,C hina architectural education which originated from the Beaux Arts system faces many problems such as the inheritance and transformation.Aiming at the target of architectural education which turning from cultivating architectural design talent to cultivate inter-disciplinary talent,through intensive study on the problems including how to set teaching goals,determining teaching ideas,formulating training principal,selecting the appropriate teaching methods and establishing the new teaching evaluation system in the basic phase of architecture design course,to achieve goals of cultivating students' comprehensive ability such as thinking ability,observation and analysis ability,communication and cooperation ability.In this paper,the origin and evolution process of typical architectural teaching idea and the content and method of teaching evaluation at home and abroad from the twentieth century up to now was analyzed;through comparative method to analyze the similarities and differences and to induce the basic feature of various teaching ideas;through the case study to induce the features of teaching method and evaluation can be used for reference from typical architectural teaching practice at home and abroad;through the questionnaire investigation and experimental teaching practice,with the statistical analysis on teaching mode,cultivating goals,content of course,teaching method and teaching evaluation,acquiring quantitative results of teaching effect.Basing on analyzing the problems during the teaching process,searching for the appropriate teaching method of the basic phase of architectural design course which according with the actual situation of non-mainstream general schools,and putting forward innovative evaluation strategy to adapt to the characteristics of those schools.Researching around the essential problems of architecture,advancing theoretical teaching idea and practical frame of the basic phase of architectural design course with own features.At the same time,a series of special training was arranged in the design course when the teaching plan was designed to approach the goals of cultivating the students' rational thinking ability and research ability.Furthermore,the cognition theory,studying mode theory and David Kolb 's tests on studying mode was introduced into the architecture design course combining with the characteristic of architecture specialty.Before establishing diversified teaching evaluation system,traditional evaluation method was reconsidered.The new evaluation system which was aimed at four types students of various learning mode provides more accurately and effective evaluation method and criterion,and achieves the goal of teaching and evaluating according to students' abilities.
