| Although historically the life in suburb was described as Utopia where people flooding into, the sprawl development of America suburb makes anther vision. Reacting to the sprawl, the New Urbanism emerged in America in T980s and developed to its climax in 1990s. It refers American excellent traditional town plan to develop a lively and compacted mode in which all parts integrated into a unity.In this thesis, based on the research of the background and theoretical origin of The New Urbanism, comparing present status in china, a beneficial construction pattern for suburb residential districts is brought forward, which combines the situation of China and meets requirements of contemporary development. It aims to create both favorable quality of residential districts and efficient real estate development.This thesis is divided into three parts:hi the first part (the second chapter), the creation foundation of the New Urbanism is studied. The evolvement process of the New Urbanism, including the background and theoretical origins is explored.In the second part (the third chapter), the New Urbanism, mainly concerning residential districts, is studied. Especially, Two practice types are analyzed : Traditional Neighborhood Development, shortened as TND; Transit Oriented Development, shortened as TOD. At meantime the differences between the residential districts instructed by the New Urbanism and the sprawl residential districts are analyzed and a summing-up is made finally.In the third part (the fourth chapter), the enlightenment of the New Urbanism to china is mainly considered about. At first, the background of reference, from China suburbanization to residential districts suburbanization, especially the factors of development and contemporary status, is studied. Secondly, some urgent problems in the residential districts development at present are summed up. Finally, in comparison with the background of the New Urbanism and in combination with current situation in China, the conclusions are made in three aspects: construction management, development mode and layout structure. |
