Research On Tianjin Residential District Planning Development History Based On New Urbanism Concept

At the beginning of the twentieth Century90’s，"New Urbanism" is proposed byAmerica firstly as a city planning thought to solve the sprawl of suburban land and theimbalance of city construction, in order to recover the energy of city’s livingenvironment. Of which, residential district planning is the core of New Urbanism. Theemergence of New Urbanism in western society is not happened at one stroke, butthrough inheritance and promotion based on the previous related city planning theoryresults for a long time to face the negative problem of urbanization and Modernismunder The industrial revolution. Even if the process of social development is not thesame, for China’s residential planning New Urbanism is shown obviously too.Because of relationship to people’s livelihood closely, our residential district planninghas always been the hot topic of academic research and the core of city’s construction.Studying western theory and promoting local theory has been the main methods ofChina’s residential district planning. From the founding of our country, residentialdistrict planning and New Urbanism showed a tight relationship. Through continuouslearning, complement and perfection, our residential district planning shine with newluster in the new century based on the Sustainable Development. This paper analysethe essence and connotation of New Urbanism from the perspective of the theorydevelopment, and distinguish the difference between New Urbanism’s developmentin westen countries and China，which is important to review our residential districtplanning’s process and guide its development’s direction.Tianjin’s residential district planning develops with China’s economic and socialChanges. Based on Tianjin’s deep historical and cultural heritage and the height of thecity development, through the government’s deep concern and strong investment,Tianjin’s residential district planning has always maintained advanced, and becomesthe typical representative of China. In this paper, based on the theory development ofNew Urbanism, Tianjin’s residential district planning is studied from the perspectiveof New Urbanism and divided to5sections of time: the residential district planning of Overcoming Difficulties, the residential district planning under political movement,the residential district planning of Living Culture，the residential district planning ofComfort based on People oriented, the residential district planning of Health based onNatural harmony. This paper analysing the New Urbanism’s essential factor shown inTianjin’s residential district planning, in order to construct the theory’s framework ofTianjin’s residential district planning.From the4aspects: evolution of structure，the promotion of admixture, theoptimization of design, the prominent of ecology, this paper extracts and purifies thefeatures of New Urbanism in Tianjin’s residential district planning, which include:residential restructuring and neighborhood development promoted by Smart Traffic,residence and service mixed and composed compactly, human landscape and styledesigned, green ecology builded under Sustainable Development. From planninglayout and architecture design, this paper analyses the scheme and compares the dataindex of Tianjin’s residential district planning which is a great quantity andoutstanding, in order to study the concrete development and tendency of the featuresof New Urbanism in Tianjin’s residential district planning. This is the support and fillof the theory’s framework of Tianjin’s residential district planning.In the end, from the theoretical study and practical demonstration, this paperproposes optimization strategies to guide the promotion of the living environment andadvance of natural narmony in the future of Tianjin’s residential district planning, tofinally realize the multiple goals of balance and benefits under the guidance ofSustainable Development.
