Study On The Inheritance And Alteration Of Traditional Living Form In Contemporary Residence

With the development of city, the objective constructing has changed from just meeting adequate subsistence to comfortablity. Therefore, the comprehensive quality of the residence becomes the focus for architects.In the design of contemporary residence, many of which have paid more attention to outward appearance than quality, and to environment rather than cultural circumstance. For these reason, the revival of family happiness among traditional residence and addition of vitality to the city development would be the core factor of the future residence design.By analying traditional living form, this paper intends to find out its guidance upon contemporary residence design.Firstly, on the basis of analysis, it finds out the intrinsic feasibility of existing traditional residence, which lies in respecting the entire sequence, and studies on the possibility of inheriting and altering them in contemporary design.Secoundly, starting from the relationship between residence and city development, it points out that it is the indifference brought by functionalism that leads to the lacking of vitality. By comparing modern design with the traditional one, we may reach the conclusion that organic development is important to conform the city's texture.Finally, by discussing techniques which fit the above principles, it points out the feasibility of using the Holisic design methods in residence grade design.
