Study On The Public Environment Of Campus In Northwest China

The development of science and technology in advanced society calls for a reformation of highereducation--including the condition of college environment. But in most colleges, the quality ofsurroundings is usually neglected during the course of outspreading or rebuilding. At the basis of present condition, this paper discusses contemporary problems of campus environment in northwest region of our country, and table corresponding proposals.The unique pattern of campus in northwest is formed by custom, regional feature, and requirements of space users. After investigation and analysis based on this principle, the author summarize the character and limitation in campus, and bring up caused by atrocious weather of northwest china.The reasons of these problems as follows, firstly, old pattern of campus wouldn't adapt to contemporary higher education any more; secondly, contradictions are inevitable during the course of development and innovation; thirdly, backwardness of northwest area in china make straits for construction of universities.After analysis on source of these problems, the author put forward principles of environment design in campus of northwest area on the view of an architect. And expound corresponding suggestion in terms of the problems found in the investigation. Creating the campus in existence should take the human behavior into account. Minding the environment of campus should exert the ability of architects maximum. And eliminating the obstructions bringing by the climate of northwest should use indigenous raw materials in a low cost.Finally, to explaining these problems, the author select a constructed campus and analyze it as an example.
