| The townhouse is being built as a healthy inhabitation form and boosted by the purchasers with the entering into 21st century. As an architect and for the curiousness to the new stuff, I feel it's reasonable and our responsibility to make it clear what is the townhouse's truth and to discuss its arisen reasons and developed directions in the future. Compared with the differences and commonness of the villas and apartments, the thesis tries to find out the answer to the design of the townhouse by interviewing real estate developers and purchasers, collecting a lot of housing design examples and using foreign townhouse designs for references.There are various arisen reasons of building the townhouse. The first reason is that the inhabitation level is largely increased by the development of economy; the second reason is the process of urbanism is expediting, the sub-center of the city is formed and the edge of the city is expanded; the third reason is the inhabitation tide from the city center to the suburb for the aspirations to the nature and green life style. The flourish roads between cities and popularization of the private cars support this inhabitation tide. There are sky, land, garden and garage in the townhouse and these are essential advancements of inhabitation form that attract people's notices and cater to this inhabitation tide. Nowadays, inhabitation is not only the most basic existent demands for people, but also one of the most important enjoyments. The townhouse lay out more humanistic, purer and more advanced inhabitation form as a low-density housing. We should rationally realize that townhouse can't be the mainstream of the social residence within a short time because of our nation's large population and less lands and less developed traffic. Compared with the whole consumption of housing, townhouse occupies only a small percent of the whole housing market but its high quality and favored by the purchaser prove its reasonable existence.From the commonness of the villa we know the exquisite environment is themost attractive advantage of the townhouse so that the landscape design is the key point in the design of the townhouse. The landscape design advocates "tri-context syncretism" afforestation concept such as "green context", "blue context" and "cultural context" in order to build an organic, internal and psychic green ecosystem. The landscape design pays attention to the quantities and kinds of the large trees in order to form three-dimensional green space with the abundant arrangements. At the same time, from the appreciation and usability, landscape design of the townhouse tries to build significant outdoors space to attract people to nature by dividing environment into four spaces arrangements and combining with environmental sculpture.The resident space of the townhouse is a space for middle-classes to blazon forth their self-personalities. Architects have wide imaginative spaces to perfect the functions of the house because of the characteristics of the vertical functional design. Many requirements of functional partition can be embodied in the townhouse while those are difficult to be realized in the aggregative housing's plan design. The townhouse lays out abundant, various spaces and satisfies people's pursuing to the personalities and cultural tastes.This thesis brings forward my own considerations based on the analysis and comprehending of a lot of townhouses. There must be some shortcomings because of lacking of the information and limitation of self-levels. I just want to explore in this field and give the contributions in my power. |
