Trip Generation is the first step of the raditional Four-Step Process?in traffic travel demand analysis whose result will be directly influenced by the forecasting precision of the trip generation model. Because of this fact that factors influencing traffic trip generation are very intricate, trip generation also is the nodus and essential in our-Step Process? At present, trip generation model, especially vehicle trip generation model, whose forecasting result is not pleased. According to this condition, Discussion about urban traffic trip generation have been carried out in this thesis. The thesis consists of two parts: the actuality analysis of the traffic trip generation and the research on vehicle trip generation. With the analysis and synthesis of actuality, we know some limitations of trip generation and some problems needing to solve in this stage. The next part is the research of the vehicle trip generation. In this part, firstly, the factors influencing vehicle trip generation in inland have been detailed discussed, especially the relationships of trip generation and employment, land use and employment. Secondly, with the method of the qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis the paper has discussed travel behaviors, travel purposes, factors influencing trip and the changing tendency of vehicle travel behavior in the future. Finally, this paper tried to bring Accessibility Index into the model of vehicle trip generation to validate the possibility and necessity of using this index in the model under this condition in china. About this two parts of the thesis, first part that lists several representative examples about the model of traffic trip generation is the basis. Second part is important in this thesis. With the research in this part, the thesis renders several achievements that are useful to the actual traffic demand analysis proj ect.
