Belt conveyors plays an important role in all kinds of modern industry, it is an essential equipment in the production process, and can effectively complete the transport task. While the belt conveyor has improved productivity, due to the factors of material technology, people’s unsafe behavior and working environment during the process of belt conveyor operation, such as running deviation, skidding and belt damage often happen, which will cause a variety of injuries, causing a serious threat to life and property. Therefore, we must attach great importance to the belt conveyor equipment safety, be aware of safe operation of belt conveyor, safety supervision, improving the accident-prone situation to ensure safe operation.The theory of modern safety system engineering research started late in China and safety assessment work was carried out incompletely, especially for the safety evaluation of mechanical equipment was less. For the safety problems of belt conveyor, experts combined with the actual situation and past experience to qualitative analysis the safety, this may lead to that it is difficult to identify some potential risk, and that the evaluation results are largely influenced by the subjective factors of experts, which often results in inaccurate evaluation results. Therefore, this paper aims to do a good job in the safety of belt conveyor, applying the safety system engineering theory in the belt conveyor design and management, through analysis the composition and work principle of belt conveyor, used the fault tree method on common fault for analysis, established the fault tree of belt conveyor system, combining quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis to analyze the cause of the fault reasons, and found security-weak parts in system, provide feasible measures for fault diagnosis and using maintenance.According to the theory of fuzzy mathematics, using the fuzzy integrated evaluation method to establish security evaluation system for belt conveyor system, from four aspects including the equipment itself safety, and unsafe behavior of people, and management and working environment to consider the safety of the whole system. on system integrated security for quantitative evaluation analysis, determine the security grade status and the general security scored of the belt conveyor system, for belt conveyor safety evaluation work provides science theory and method, provide basis for management work, and so as to further put forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve the safety of belt conveyor, has great significance to improve the safety of belt conveyor.
