The main function of ballistic range spatial benchmark is to put all sets of photography stations into the same space coordinates system and provide standard for cameras, which is used to process and analysis projectile images captured simultaneously by the cameras. Aimed at the application background, a kind of ballistic range spatial benchmark control system was designed, which was based on the Position Sensitive Detector (PSD). Then, the spatial coordinates calibration method of the shadow photograph based on alignment-laser and PSD in ballistics was proposed. Finally, its accuracy was analyzed.The ballistic range spatial benchmark control system includes the following parts:laser source, laser alignment device, optical telescope, PSD, precise six-dimensional stepper motor console, double cross grids benchmark carrier and so on. The semiconductor laser whose emission wavelength is 532nm was used as system laser source. By being adjusted by laser alignment device and being compressed by optical telescope, effective light spots overlapped each other irradiate on the corresponding PSD photosurfaces. Then spot position signals were acquired and processed. The software was designed by Lab VIEW. It could not only process spot position signals, but also could control stepper motor console’s movement to drive PSD that fastened to double cross grids benchmark carrier until the energy density center of light spots coincide with PSD center.There was a standard component in the double cross grids benchmark carrier stations. Both carriers’ and standard component’s photos were taken in the space coordinates system. And their feature points were discerned to calculate standard component’s size. Analyzing the several sets of measurement results, the spatial accuracy of the system was superior to 1mm. At last,7.62mm and 14.5mm bullets were used in the experiment. The result shows that the system had reasonable construction, steady performance, easy operation and high positioning accuracy. Besides, it could save adjustment time in stations and effectively overcome the man-made factors.
