With the development of science and technology and the competition ofproductivity, conveyor machinery began to be widely applied in the production andhuman’s life, such as building materials, metallurgy, chemical industry, thermalpower, light industry and other industries. Geographical, environmental and a lot ofother factors should be considered in the application of belt conveyor. Therefore, inthe design of the belt conveyor, more comprehensive condition should be considered.It also need higher requirement in the design system. The traditional CAD designsystem is not reasonable with long design cycle, and the drawings’ modificationperiod always to long.Therefore, in this article, collaborative design is used for belt conveyor based onWeb technology. Take the advantage of Web technologies and collaborative designinto the process of belt conveyor design, and establish a collaborative design platform.The whole design process shall be finished in this platform. The main researchcontents and results of this article are as follows:1) the traditional CAD designsystem’s deficiencies are studied in the design of belt conveyor, and put forwardcollaborative design based on Web technology for belt conveyor;2) studied theinsufficiency of C/S and B/S mode, and formulated the MC/MS/MWS(multi-client/main server/multi-workstation) work mode which is suitable for beltconveyor collaborative design;3) a complete Web collaborative design systemstructure has been established through the work mode of MC/MS/MWS(multi-client/main server/multi-workstation).After the concept of Web technology and collaborative design has been putforward, this paper mainly studies the application of this technology in the beltconveyor design. Apply the Web technology and collaborative design in thetraditional design mode, to construct a collaborative design platform based on Webtechnology. Under this condition, not only designers can break through thebottleneck of the traditional belt conveyor design, but also can promote the smooth communication with customers. Moreover, with this design mode, the company canprovide customers with excellent design with shorten product design cycle. More timeshall be saved for later production to improve products’ quality and increase thebenefit of the company.
