Study And Protection On Ceramic Culture Of Settlement Landscape In Chenlu, Shaanxi

This thesis mainly focuses on the formation of living environment and the production process of folk ceramic culture of Chenlu, Tongchuan city, Shaanxi province, where celadon, as one of the four popular Chinese traditional ceramics (Yaozhou porcelain) is produced. With the aim to work out some protection strategies by making a theoretical study, the prosperous development of Chenlu, a typical area with local characteristics, the history of Chenlu ceramic production is selected as the study line of this thesis. From two aspects of the living characteristics and production technology, the thesis makes a systematic analysis on its ceramic culture protection and the original natural settlement environment formed on the basis of ceramic culture, and then puts forward some protection strategies. Chenlu town is ancient YaoZhou kiln production base, which is working in a large scale with 800 years of ceramics firing history; what's more, its traditional ceramics firing skill is included the Chinese intangible cultural heritage list. Ceramic sites widely distribute in Chenlu town, overlying traditional dwellings and constructions in the town. Influenced by its ecological environment landscape and production process with a long history and profound cultural heritage, Chenlu ceramic production not only influences the local traditional social organization structure, life structure, life style also build a special living environment. Chenlu traditional family-unit production workshops decide the local production methods and lifestyles, which leads to its unique living culture and settlements. Meanwhile, the living styles, public activities and folk culture are related to the ceramic production. In this sense, this study on the living environment of Chenlu ceramic production has a practical significance to protect and maintain Chenlu peculiar historical culture and traditional handicraft.Based on the field investigation and the interview with the residents of Chenlu, this thesis summaries these causes, factors and forms, which influence the formation of Chenlu ceramic production and living environment, and the neglect effects on the living environment as well, with the help of the historical documents materials and the carding and analysis of previous research results. According to the analysis above, the thesis tries to put forward some reasonable suggestions for the protection of the traditional living environment and local-style dwelling houses, the development of regional culture and the revitalization of traditional handicraft. Moreover, some reasonable ideas about the protection and development of Chenlu ecological environment and traditional handicrafts are pointed out to solve these present problems.
