The Three Gorges region is prominent in geographical location and has long history and culture. As the most characteristic of the main core of Yangtze River, the Three Gorges area has spectacular natural scenery and rich human connotation. So that, since ancient times it was attracted many people to tour. Driven by today's emerging eco-tourism and cultural tourism boom, the Three Gorges tourism is ushering in new era of opportunities and challenges. By the basic completion of the Three Gorges Project in 2009, the Three Gorges region's tourism environment was greatly changed than before. The huge social benefits have has emerged. Cause the Three Gorges Dam Project as the world's largest water conservancy project will attract a large number of people of all circles around the world visit and tour, that it developt the economic and tourism of Three Gorges region as well as beneficial in promoting China. But it should be also clearly aware that it is a challenge to the traditional history and culture of the Three Gorges region by the Three Gorges Project reservoir about 650 km long. Many of the ground or underground relics were inundated, and large numbers of urban were relocated. With the rapid construction of Metro immigrants, many traditional market towns with long history and building and historical sites, etc. are disappearing, and while there are some new and valuable tourist attractions to be development and construction. At this special historical period, the cultural environment of the Three Gorges tourism faces new opportunities and challenges. How to create a new tourism environment in the historical and cultural context of the Three Gorges has become the key characteristics of the Three Gorges tourism development. Therefore, the article based on the Three Gorges tourism and cultural environment, from the tourism point of view to understand the building environment. By studying the corresponding style of urban and built environment, exploring the way of tourism environmental protection and tourism architectural creation in Three Gorges region. So that it can promote the sustained and healthy development of the Three Gorges tourism.The article is divided into three main parts with a total of five chapters:In the first part, it is summed up the Three Gorges tourism resources that including natural landscape resources and the culture resources. These are not only become the important part of the Three Gorges tourism but also decide the formation and development of the traditional architectural features. Second, it is summarised the features and characteristics of traditional town and traditional architectures in Three Gorges region. Through study the natural environment and cultural features, it can be analyzed and summarized the the characteristics of the traditional town and architecture. It is not only the great tourism resources but also a good inspiration for the design of new tourism architecture design.Third, this part is discussion the method of creating features and characteristics of the tourism architecture in the Three Gorges region. Based on analysis of the previous, it summarize the way to make out the features of the Three Gorges tourism environment. so as to realistic example, the article summed the positive measures in protection of heritage of the Three Gorges tourism environment and also explore the way of geographical features in modern tourism building design. on the one hand the question is how to protect and use the remaining historical and cultural resources, and on the other hand, faced to the feature lost of the tourism environment, we should think about how to recreate and renew the cultural environment. Faced with this reality, so as to realistic example, the article summed the positive measures in protection of heritage of the Three Gorges tourism environment and also explore the way of geographical features in modern tourism building design.
