As a very important method in the field of non-destructive testing , ultrasonic non-destructive testing is now being widely used in iron and steel manufacturing industry, machine manufacturing industry, electronic manufacturing industry, aerospace industry, defense industry and so on. It plays a very important role in ensuring the quality of product and the safety of production. In recent years, with the deep study on the ultrasonic non-destructive testing technology and the rapid development of computer technology, digital processing technology, automation and intelligent technology and so on, the development of ultrasonic non-destructive testing technology is more and more extensive, the functions of the ultrasonic non-destructive testing equipment is more complete, and its system also becomes more and more complex. With the principle of A-scanning impulse reflection type ultrasonic testing, a kind of digital ultrasonic non-destructive testing equipment is studied and designed based on DSP and CPLD in this paper. By combining the high-speed digital signal processing capacity of DSP with the flexible and reliable programmability of CPLD, and using other suitable peripheral devices, the basic functions of ultrasonic non- destructive testing equipment is realized. Experiments show that this design is feasible and has some progress, and the system runs stably. In this paper, the principle and technology of ultrasonic testing is studied in the first instance. Based on this the integral design plan is given. Then the hardware and software design is detailed described separately, besides, the application that wavelet transform in the ultrasonic signal noise elimination is researched and analyzed. Finally, the author summarizes this system design, and points the shortage needed to improve in this system.
