Ecological development of buildings is the future of architecture. No matter what kind of reference, respecting and utilizing the local characters are both required in design seriously. Climate is the immutable character of building and is continuously explored. But the building is a complex system, a variety of elements such as physical, thinking, energy interweave together, there is contradictions between time's 4D effect and relatively static design. Is there a better way to guide the architects to design with the nature since the early stage of building design?The human being has stepped into the highly developed era of digital and information, Computer Aided Architecture Design (BIM) does not only improve the efficiency of design, but also extends it's capability in the Green Building Design, providing advanced and scientific tools. Currently the dominated 2D CAAD technology can not satisfy the demand of ecological building design in the era of information, the study about new design method and new aided design tools is the tendency of new century.This paper studied the applications of digital technology in climate adaptation building design. From the climate character of hot summer and cold winter region, it studies the more eco-friendly energy design methods in the early stage of building design. First, this paper analysis the developments and features of climate adaptation design, determine the special aspects for building in hot summer and cold winter region. Then presenting the development of computer-aided architecture design, make sure the requirements about the aided-design tool in early stage, propose that the goal of simulation is not to verify the design, the comparison of different design strategies is more important. This can help the architects to make the sustainable design in early stage. Further more, through some cases to explain the methods and processes in building design for hot summer and cold winter climate adaptation design, trying to summarize some practical design rules. Of course, this paper is not focus on summarizing the design strategies for this climate region, it's more important to show the design process in specific element. Finally, takes a design case as an example, using the currently advanced digital technology BIM and the energy analysis software suitable for early stagy of design to explain the details of the application and process in design.
