Mechanical seal test-rig is mainly used for performance test, sealing products check test or seal performance experiment of simulating field working condition for mechanical seals and other rotating dynamic seals. The paper is study of research and development project about mechanical seal experimental platform. The R & D project demands that the test-rig must have fast rotating speed, simple mechanical structure, the experiment ability of both general mechanical and non-contacting mechanical seals.In this paper, Solidworks, one of 3D design softwares, is used for design of experimental equipment. Design or type selection of important components are introduced in detail. At last, a design result is completed which conforms the demand. Driving shaft is one of the most important parts in the platform, which affect the experimental precision. The design process of driving shaft is as follows: strength design at first, and simulation analysis for structure optimization at last.Experiment process design about non-contacting mechanical seal is added in. Different from general mechanical seal, end face parameters of the non-contacting mechanical seal determine the seal performance. So that, a non-contacting mechanical seal parameter calculation is used to determine the parameters of subjects before the design,and software"Flow Simulation"is used to analyze the flow field of end face between rotating and static rings for two non-contacting mechanical seals. The distribution discipline of pressure and temperature field is obtained, and the advantages of double rows crossed dynamic groove mechanical seal are verified, besides, a contrast experiment is designed.
