It has become the indispensable and important constituent element of urban's development and construction. ULC core zone refers to the area that have the highest level of public recognition and represent the urban highest level of landscape characteristic in the city scope.Nowadays, the characteristic crisis universal existence. Through studying the relationship between the human's cognition capacity to ULC, ULC grade-category theory and the landscape characteristic aesthetic estimation, the paper Proposed that the human comes under finiteness and be not holistic to the landscape characteristic's cognition capacity influence, the paper borrows the psychology blocking skill to propose the concept of ULC core zone and to be clear and strengthen ULC information, also help people to be have an effective choice and control on ULC information, and to clarity the zone which have the highest public recognition and represent the urban highest rank landscape characteristic.This article second, third, fourth chapters for basic theory study part,mainly elaborated the conception and connotation of ULC core zone, analyzed the relationship between the human's cognition capacity to ULC, ULC grade-category theory and the landscape characteristic aesthetic estimation. Based on a large number of case studies, the paper proposed comprehensively the generally universal characteristic of ULC core zone in the visual aesthetic perception, spatial perception of aesthetic, psychological aesthetic cognition, etc. It provided a basis for the delimitation of the core zone. The fifth, sixth chapter of mainly research the mechanism for the core zone delimitation; formulate the principles of delimitation and delimitation steps and use the grade-category evaluation method to find out the urban highest level of landscape characteristic,it take the ULC core zone of Yueyang main city for example.The research of ULC core zone be able to grasp the strengths and weaknesses of the existing landscape characteristic, be advantageous in proposed scientifically the updated direction of ULC , and be advantageous to the conservation and renewal of ULC. It's helpful to be clear the urban characteristic localization and makes the typical characteristics of the city, which provides a system management ideas for the resources of the urban characteristic can be transform into the urban economy, culture and other areas of strengths as much as possible.
