The Study On Characteristics Of Urban Landscape Characteristic Grade-Category

As one of the basic theory studies of the National Natural Science Foundation "Urban landscape characteristic theoretical model of Grade-Category study" (Project Approval No. :50878092,2008-2010),this paper is an integral part of the fund project. Through the clearence of the concepts and features, and other basic properties of Grade characteristics and Category characteristics, it studies the intrinsic correlation between the " Grade characteristics "and " Category characteristics ", in order to lay a foundation for Grade-Category theoretical research.Paper initiate from the study of urban landscape features and the factors impacting the status quo. The status of urban landscape features, as well as the issues, have shown that our urban landscape assessment lacks of a stable and uniform standards. Due to the lack of evaluation criteria, urban constructions are based on what is popular in society, so that the original characteristics of urban landscape more and more lost, but a new urban landscape characteristics can not be in accordance with good planning. If we can cut into the theory from the Grade-Category theory, and this can be a solution to a certain extent.Grade-Category theory put forward to build a unique urban landscape evaluation system, through this system which can provides a standard, we can accurately find any characteristics of a city-owned areas in this system, as well as the grade of the area characteristics, and thus understanding of what is the city's best features, and what features need to be strengthened. Urban landscape Grade-Category characteristic theory is the theory of relations and composition of urban landscape characteristic Grade-Category. The theory constitutes the core of the relationship, which is determined by the basic properties of " Grade characteristics "and " Category characteristics " of the urban landscape.Theory then cut into the analysis of urban function zoning district and urban landscape features from the structure and function, comes the conclusion that the Landscape Character Area experience is based on the functional areas. Analysis of urban landscape characteristics obtained with the spatial and temporal empirical features, spatial and temporal mixed capacitive features, exceeding of specific nature of the properties of space-time features. And studies the aesthetic characteristics and aesthetic components of the urban landscape areas.Chapter IV proceeds from the study from the the significance of the urban landscape Grade characteristics ". Analysis of landscape character areas have hierarchy and subordination natures. Grade characteristics have some subordination nature, and subordinated to a particular area. Character Area as long as not across the specific district area, the corresponding characteristics shall be existence; once the unique characteristics of areas across the district a specified area, the corresponding characteristics will not exsit because the duplication or repetition of landscape characteristics. Grade characteristics has hierarchy, scope, areas of different sizes corresponding to different Grade characteristics. With the changing of characteristics of area size, characteristics area reflects different characteristics of hierarchy. The highest level within the area is the character of the area district. Then analyzes the classification principle, subject, that is the classification standard of the urban landscape Grade characteristics.Chapter V focuses on the research of district-level system, which has stability, complexity, level of property characteristics. the relevance between Grade-Category mainly reflects on the specific rules, such as long boards effects property, casks effects property, overall effects property, die out effects property, durability effects property, ect..Stability of the system is the prerequisite for Urban landscape characteristic theoretical model of Grade-Category study. Urban landscape Grade-Category system is based on a relatively stable aesthetic systems. Grade-Category system has complexity. Similar repulsion and coexistence of heterogeneous provides the basic rules for the complexity of the Grade-Category system, providing the landscape characteristics of the Grade-Category system though complex but a comparable basis. Grade-Category system has hierarchy. Cities, venues and monomer for each level will correspond to a relatively stable Grade-Category system. To study the Grade characteristics corresponded to the Category charcateristics from different levels , the composition relations of urban landscape is correspondly different.The final chapter of paper summarize the full paper content and look ahead the follow-up studies.
