Research On Courtyard Residence Of Bayu And It's Defense Features

As a type of residences with a long history, courtyard residence had produced prototype early in Western Zhou Dynasty. With the continuous improvement of construction technology and socio-cultural changes, type of this building not only not retreated, but has become increasingly tightly regulated in the long-term follow, at last become the basic pattern of traditional Chinese architecture, and with the spread of the culture, it spread throughout the land of China. Courtyard diversified structure is formed in the regional adaptive process. The development of courtyard residence in Bayu area is based on the spread of Central Plains culture in the Bayu area and integration of immigration Culture. Standing on the local architectural culture, with constantly selection, integration and evolving process, it has created a unique style with its own courtyard space form by absorption of all parties'advantages.This paper studies on the courtyard residential in Bayu area. First, the study adheres to division of the Chinese courtyard System and the process of courtyard residential production and the development, while combines the unique natural areas to the Bayu regional environment and socio-cultural context. Then it analyzes the prototype Bayu area courtyard residence, to summarize the Bayu area general characteristics of courtyard residence. On this basis, it established a preliminary impression of the Bayu area courtyard residence. Next, by the discussion of the Bayu area residential spatial organization, shape composition, construction technology, and the defense features in a specific historical period in four chapters, try to reappear a clear and complete image of Bayu area courtyard residence by the way of deconstruction. Finally, proposed some corresponding protection measures for the main problems existing in Bayu area courtyard residence.As a kind of residential form which shaped in the special natural and geographical environment and social environment shaped by human, Courtyard residence is not only the most important architectural and cultural components, but also one of the most important vectors to show the folk culture. The research and protection of the traditional Bayu area courtyard houses has very important meaning, especially in the present precarious living conditions of Traditional courtyard houses and the demands of diverse cultures. This paper is indeed for this purpose. Hope the research of this paper could raise awareness for the protection of traditional houses more sense. Let traditional houses truly be protected and regenerated in the developing process in the new era.
