With the development of electronic technology, the electronic control technology is growing more and more complexity, so it brings challenges to traditional vehicle maintenance, and the engine fault diagnosis technology has become one of the focus. In order to develop and popularize the EFI motorcycle, this project develop a PDA-based diagnostic instrument for FAI EFI System. It has sufficient memory capacity, a variety of interfaces to communicate with a series of equipments, and the user interface is more humane and more intelligent, etc.The development kit that the diagnostic instrument used is utu2440-F-V4.5 produced by Beijing Yang Chuang Innovation Technology Co., Ltd, it installed the Windows CE operating system, the diagnostic instrument is equivalent to a mini-PC. The Diagnostic based on the embedded system development, mainly formed by the diagnostic mdule, debug module, display module and communication mdule.This project used C# to develop software on Visual Studio 2005, users can through it to do man-machine interaction friendly, thus achieve diagnosis and debugging.Diagnostic instrument can diagnosis FAI EFI system, set and adjust the parameters: it can identify the basic information of ECU internal control procedures in FAI system, set jet unit parameters and the height above sea level, etc; point out FAI EFI system failures that may exist, and prompt solutions.Simultaneously the diagnostic instrument can also debug and maintain FAI EFI system: through scanning the parameter of O value to debug the idle mixture concentration to the most appropriate value automatically, and allow the operator to modify the results moderately, then the results can be written into ECU, making the engine mixture concentration at its best. It can also monitor the motorcycle running parameters which can be stored in text files in real time, then we can import the text file into FAI-MOTDS software which is self-develop by FAI, then we can monitor the motorcycle running state vividly through a graphical curve.PDA-based diagnostic instrument is convenient to collect the test data, can provide rapid and effective foundation to help production personnel and application engineers as quickly as possible finding causes of failure, reduce maintenance costs, and guarantee after-sale services, so it is significant for developing and promoting FAI EFI motorcycle.
