Study On Design Event Memorial Space

Event memorial space, which reflect the social collective memory, a country's historical process, peoples' attitudes towards historical events and the beliefs of future life, have significances of warning and education later generations. Event memorial space is essential to the continuation of human being's spiritual life. Aiming to inherit and commemorate events, designers created various event memorial spaces to transfer the emotions to the appreciator.This paper studied on the event memorial spaces which have memorable significance at the very beginning of construction, and focused on its external space.. Firstly, the author posed problems of the practices existed in China, then through analyzing the concept of the event memorial space and comparing with several similar conceptions, summarized the type, characteristics and function of the event memorial space. Secondly, to sloving these problems, through analyzing and comparing cases, the author did research on four aspects:space concept (events and emotions), space organization (the organization of events, sequence and rhythm), space formation (shape, size, emptiness and solidity, cohesion, etc.), space elements (soft and hard elements), summarized the ways of reflecting events and conveying various emotions in detail. Finally, based on the analysis of the previous part, the author summed up the design principles, expression methods, Sensuous experience ways of event memorial spaces. The author hoped that the design methods summarized in this paper can provide reference for contemporary designs and expand the designer's ideas.
