The application of Automatic Identification System (AIS) in shipping safety and acquisition of ship dynamic information has become increasingly important. Many departments and organizations, such as the maritime and safety administration, shipping company, ship agency and port, have a thirsty requirement of AIS information. In order to make full use of the atery of Yangtze river'AIS system based on the Yangtze river, a shipping information platform base on artery of Yangtse river's AIS has been researched and developmented. Collect and integrate the information resources of each AIS system on the atery of Yangtze river. Providing the relevant ship information for government and shipping management departments. so that the shipping information resources provided by the atery of Yangtze river'AIS can be used to maximum, and the information sharing and effective utilization of the resources can be realized between different regions.In this paper, the current situation of the artery of Yangtse river's AIS network has been introduced, the decoding technology of AIS data package has been researched, the demand analysis of this shipping information platform has been made. Then a shipping information platform base on artery of Yangtse river's AIS has been built by using application server mode as the network architecture of this information platform. And the feasibility analysis also has been given. The development of main function modules of this platform, such as information query module, visualization monitoring module and traffic flow statistics module, has been emphatically studied.Specific research methods and results are given as following:aquire AIS information form the atery of Yangtze river'AIS system and store the data which has been selected and decoded to database, then display the relevent information in text form and electronic chart form. Research and development shipping information platform website, provide browsing shipping information which also will be visualized and displayed on the electronic rivers chart. Some environmental protection services such as ship dynamic real-time inquiring adn dangerous-goods ship monitoring can be realized. Using neural network technology to develop vessel traffic flow automatic statistics software based on AIS, which not only can provide supporting data for computing navigation capacity and port planning but also can be a criterion to measure AIS communication capacity.Using this information platform, we can realize the function of information display and management monitoring for moving targets, and provide all kinds of information service and related technical support for the ports and companies along the Yangtze river. Consequently, the production efficiency and informatization level of organizations and company along the Yangtze river can be promoted, which can bring shipping economic's rapid development to Yangtze river basin.
