Gantry crane is an important lifting equipment and widely used in bridge engineering, hydraulic engineering, railway stations, ports, power plants and manufacturing fields. It plays an important role in the development of the society and its possible applications are expanding over the years. The steel structure is the most critical component of the gantry crane. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study on the steel structure of the gantry crane.Combined with the actual project, a gantry crane with single-girder and double hook which is used for lifting steel box girder in the Jinan Yellow River Bridge, is taken as the object of study in this dissertation. The finite element modal of the whole gantry crane is established by using famous finite element software ANSYS according to its structure character and work conditions, and then static structure analysis, stability analysis and model analysis are carried out to it. The results indicate that the structure stress and deformation are conformed. As the hoisting system of the gantry crane is the most basic and the most important part of the gantry crane, a finite element modal is established by using ANSYS according to its structure character, and the structure analysis is carried out to it. The analysis results indicate that a improvement design for the sling structure is necessary, therefore, the sling structure is improved and conducted again. The innovative approach improves the safety of the hoisting system. At last, the optimization design of main girder is carried out by the optimal toolbox of ANSYS software. The weight of main girders is reduced by 14.27 percent after optimization, it shows that the optimization proposal is reasonable and reliable.According to the research in the dissertation, the method, that analyzing the structure and optimizing structure by using ANSYS, can shorten design period, reduce the cost of product. The results of the study provide reference for the design and optimization for the similar products.
