Study On Seismic Behavior Of Adobe Masonry Wall

Abstract/Summary:
Xinjiang is located in high earthquake, magnitude and frequency areas in western China; however, for economic backwardness ,the lack of rain ,construction convenient and advantages of heat insulation performance adobe houses exists in a certain period and scope.Destroy of adobe houses was particularly serious by previous earthquake damage .It is important significance for protecting the people's life and property safety and inheritance of the national history and culture to puts forward seismic capacity calculation method and strengthening project. In this dissertation, the compressive strength and peak strain of adobe, mud cube and adobe masonry and the low level of cyclic loading test of the three pieces of adobe masonry wall are analyzed in detail by means of tests,numerical models and theoretical analyses. The main works and results are as follows:(1)The compressive strength and peak strain of adobe, mud cube and adobe masonry have been obtained by uniaxial monotonic compressive experiment ,simple linear equation of their elastic modulus and compressive strength has been established by re-gression analysis. The equation of mud cube strength and compressive strength of the masonry adobe has been proposed. Using damage theory and the statistical approachesof strength.Contrast with compression test result and existed constitutive model,it shows that this model correctly reflects the relation of stress-strain of adobe masonry.(2)Based on the three pieces of adobe masonry wall the low level of cyclic load-ing test,taking shear strength of adobe masonry wall by test without vertical pressure as one of non-aseismic design,seismic shear strength of adobe masonry wall is calcua-ted by principal tensile strength theory with axial-load ratio from 0 to 0.1(3)Adobe masonry specimen were were analyzed by the method of three-dimensional finite element analysis, the vertical stress affection on crack load,bearing capacity and the corresponding limit displacement ware analysed by calculating adobe wall with axial-load ratio from 0 to 0.8. It has been given that normal stress influence coefficients of seismic shear strength of adobe wall is equal to 1 with axial-load ratio from 0.1 to 0.2.Axial compression ratio is not exceeding 0.2.This dissertation is sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)program(#50768010,50968015).
