Rural area is a weak link in the earthquake fortification. Without designing and construction management, the capability in earthquake resistance of the building is poor. The earthquake damage in the past showed that the earthquake caused serious damages to the rural housing.To meet the need of seismic safety project for Yunnan's rural houses, researches about construction technologies and earthquake-resistance carrying capacities of traditional houses are presented in this paper. Furthermore, tests focus on modified adobe and adobe wall to the improvement of immature soil walls'earthquake-resistance carrying capacities are preceded.Firstly, the status of adobe wall as load-bearing wall and enclosure wall in the civil structure of traditional houses was known by investigations. And survey focus on the damage of adobe wall in the Ning'er earthquake with MS6.4, the damage modes were analyzed, the proposals to construct adobe wall of civil structure in Post-earthquake reconstruction were put forward.Secendly, influence rules that adding different quantities of Pine needle can make different strength parameters are presented; the adobe load-displacement curve with different quantities of Pine needle was fitted. The formula relationship between adobe strength and tmaterial on the basis of experiment was also fitted.Main influence factors of single adobe's strength and fracture development failure mechanics of adobe's compressive capacity are generalized. It is found that by adding the additives, the improvement of compressive strength is not obviously. However, bending strength and shearing strength is improved a lot.At last, experimental researches on the adobe wall by different size, different mud, and different building way, the destruction mechanism and crack developing characteristic of wall which under unidirectional horizontal load function is obtained. The shearing capacity and ductility coefficient is also obtained and the difference destruction shape of different wall is analyzed. The shear strength formula of the adobe walls was proposed, and the formula of adobe wall with traditional method was amended. To improve the overall stability of the plane of the wall, two special-shaped adobes by the machinery occluding for co-operation were suggested.
