As we know, adobe is a traditional building material. Although the modern building materials and structural styles have replaced the traditional residential housing gradually, adobe masonry, due to its good features as abundance of raw materials, simplicity of construction and reproducibility, which is being studied by more and more researchers in recent years, especially with the growing concentration on the earthquake safety and rural construction. Current researches mainly depend on the tests to analyze the performance under forcing. In this paper, the elastic-plastic finite element simulation method is used to analyze Representative Volume Element of adobe masonry and adobe wall by software ABAQUS.Firstly, the appropriate RVE of traditional adobe masonry has been selected, the mechanical properties of traditional adobe masonry RVE under unidirectional force has been simulated, the compressive strength and tensile strength in three direction has been obtained. Mechanical properties of the traditional RVE under unidirectional shear-compress composite pressure with different axial compression ratios. The equivalent elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio of traditional RVE are also obtained.Secondly, using the equivalent parameter of traditional RVE, the wall PQ-1 is simulated. The results showed that the simulation is close to reality and also indicated that it is feasible to replace the wall by the RVE, in the other way, it is common to simulate the wall by using the finite element method and the homogeneous theory to a certain extent.Thirdly, six kinds of RVE with different reinforced ratios of bamboo have been designed, single axial tension and compression on x, y and z direction has been simulated and simulating RVE under compressing on y direction and shearing on x direction. Furthermore, the equivalent elastic parameters have been calculated. By comparing the results, it is concluded that the reinforcement ratio of bamboo impacts the mechanical properties in reinforcement bamboo direction.Finally, based on the equivalent parameters, four different thickness of walls have been simulated under five different hole's dimension influencing, compared to the walls without hole, it is concluded that the shear capacity of wall increased effectively by reducing the dimension of the hole, the ductility factor and sway angle of adobe walls are also concluded.Because of the limited capacity of author, there is a lot of work to research more profoundly in the future.
