Research On The Isomorphic Design Of Public Buildings

The research objects of this paper are the phenomenon and design principles of the isomorphic design in public buildings'space.Based on tectonic, environmental behavior and esthetics theory, analyzing lots of architectural works, the reason and value and design principles of isomorphic phenomenon are presented. The purpose of the paper is to change the incompatibility status of space, materials, form between the outdoor space and indoor space and to inspire the coming works.The first part of this paper is the theory basis, including chapter 1 and 2. The reason, object, purpose and significance of the paper are presented, and the related researches at home and abroad are introduced. The isomorphic design in architectural field is introduced with those in other fields together.In the second part of this paper, including chapter 3 and 4, the main research of this article are presented. The presentation of isomorphic design in architecture design history was present to lead to the concept of isomorphic design. Its changing process was talked from two aspects:outdoor design indoor space; indoor design outdoor space. The design methods were summed up and the concept was further clear. After much analyses of building samples, the isomorphic design was presented from three key elements:structure, form and image of culture. Key elements structure includes space, interface, structure and modulus; key elements form includes form, color, skin, material and mark system; key elements form culture image includes metaphor and symbolization.As the conclusion, based on esthetics and environment-behavior studies, the value of isomorphic design was presented, it can meets humans aesthetic need; it makes buildings more useful; it can strength the sense of belonging and the architecture character. And the design principals of isomorphic design are summed up in structure, form and cultural image.
