This thesis discusses the indoor and outdoor ground pavement design in modern city public building. Mainly related to different ground decorative pavement in city public buildings. It has a long history in indoor and outdoor ground decorative pavement. It is in common use in ancient and modern city. However, it is different from the simple use in ancient. In the modern city, the floor covering in landscape design needs more aesthetics,ecological,economic,practical,principle. So tedious and monotony ground pavement design is not to adapt to the developing modern world.Public building ground covering is an important issue in urban public space. The thesis research on this area and in-depth analysis the public building ground covering development, the role of space activities and urban living in public buildings. Modern urban landscape requires different forms of pavement. There are different requirements in city squares, public gardens, residential areas, no commercial street, urban roads, parking lots, waterfront road and so on. It need to combine with the environment of the surrounding landscape, unique site conditions, the functional characteristics of the different spatial design. Specifically, the landscape pavement design includes colors, textures (tactile, visual), the choice of pattern or design, scale, height difference and boundary treatment should be start from functional, beautiful and practical, economic, technical, environmental protection, user-friendly design. At the same time must be consider to protect and promote the historical, highlights the city’s characteristics and enrich city life and so on. It is easy to see that the ground covering design of indoor and outdoor space of public buildings is tend to ecological, cultural and overall development.
