Titles:The "Magnet" and "Container" Of Lijiang YuHu SettlementArchitecture is the epitome of economy, culture and social history in a special period. Traditional settlements are historic witness of China's being a big agricultural country in the past thousands of years. They are of great value in history and culture through the whole scene, and show typical characteristics of certain historical periods. In addition, the traditional settlements are also carrier of residents'social and cultural life, and are urgently required to be revamped and developed. The paper is based on investigation and historical materials about Lijiang YuHu regional villages, and analyses the YuHu settlement's space imagination, the creation and evolution of YuHu settlement's "magnet" and "container" (lognitudinal analyse) and its actuality space form (transverse analyse). All of this are under the background of local nature, economic, society and culture. According to the process of history, I divide four phases to analyse its creation and evolution. This four phases are:clannish trible period before Yuan dynasty, under rule of Mu TuSi in Ming dynasty, under rule of feudal landholder after the GaiTuGuiLiu reform in Qing dynasty, socialist period after liberation of china. In order to describe the actuality space form of YuHu's "magnet" and "container" clearly, I divide it into three parts, including campestrian space, settlement space and courtyard space. In the end, this paper sums up some features and thinking of the YuHu settlement's future."The localization of modern architecture and the modernization of local architecture is a common approach to be shared by all in the progress teward architectural proliferation. " Bejing Charter published in 1999 puts forward the viewpoint that we must put tradition in the development point and we should learn from it unobtrusively and impersonally. At the same time, innovation without any hesitation is also immportant. So I want to explore a possible approach by analyzing a little aspect——the "magnet" and "container" of YuHu settlement, and intend to explore and sum up some disciplines which may provide useful experience and lessons for the development of YuHu settlement and some other similar settlements.
