In recent years, there is a blindness and subjectivity in developing the waterfront landscape of the small town which had caused a bad destroy of the water resource and nature resource as well as the balance of the ecosystem, so how to make use of the research of the waterfront landscape and develop it in a scientific and reasonable way has became of an important research subject in our country!This paper put the waterfront landscape design as a research object, using the theory of landscape design to explore and research. In allusion to the problems that existed in the waterfront landscape design in traditional town. This paper uses the method of literature field research, comparative study, overall analysis, induction and reduction, based on the harmonious unity of people and nature, by help of the point of Landscape Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Recreation Science, Environmental Behavior and Habitat Ecology to do a research in the area of landscape structure, space factor and value etc. Of the traditional town. This paper analysis the principle and factor of the design in waterfront landscape of the traditional town as well as how to design the pier, lighting, decoration of surface and plant configuration! By the example of waterfront landscape design of Wan'an county in Jiangxi province, the viewpoint put forward in this paper had been substantiated to be a right way in the waterfront landscape design in the traditional town.
